How to create a new MS Dynamics CRM Instance?

With the Microsoft new storage model (April 2019) you can create as many sandbox instances as long as you have the capacity. However, to create a new Instance you must have at least 1 GB of free space. This post will guide you to create a new MS Dynamics CRM Instance.

Dynamics CRM Instance creation

Go to Power Platform Admin center by using this link Power Platform admin center (microsoft.com) or from Microsoft 365 Admin center. You can also navigate to Microsoft 365 admin center and under All Admin center link click Dynamics 365.

It will open up the Power Platform admin center. Click +New button to create a new Instance.

Enter the Name of the Instance.

In the type field choose the type of the Instance.

Types of CRM Instances

Sandbox – This type of Instance used for doing the testing of any custom functionality before deploying in the production environment.

Trial (Subscription-based)– This is the type of trial environment that companies can use to develop larger, multiuser, and multiple-department solutions and perform proof-of-concept reviews.

Production– Create an Instance for production use.

Trial – This is the type of trial environment that companies can use to allow users and department managers to try new features and quickly build low-code and no-code applications and processes. The users having suitable licenses can create the trial instance for 30 days.

Region – By default it picks the country based on the country set up in Office 365. However, you can change it also. If you want to create a new Instance for different locale then the D365 tenant should be multi Geo tenant. Multi Geo tenant does not require any additional cost however you need to raise a request to Microsoft to make your Instance a Multi Geo Instance.

Set ‘Yes’ to create a database for this environment. If you don’t set it ‘Yes’ then it will not allow you to install any apps and also if you want to copy any other instance in this newly created instance then it will not allow you to do so.

Click Next.

Add Database

In the Add Database screen, select Language and enter the URL of the Instance.

The currency field will display the currency based on the region selected while creating the Instance. Set ‘Yes’ in Enable Dynamics 365 apps if you wanted to install the Apps.

Apps List

Select the Apps from the list and click save. It will initiate the process of creating the Instance.

New Instance

This will create a new MS Dynamics CRM Instance. On successful creation of the Instance the state will change from ‘Preparing Instance’ to ‘Ready’.

Open the instance from the URL defined in the environment.
